ShinyLoot joins as game sponsor on Paulthetall.com!

ShinyLoot joins as game sponsor on Paulthetall.com!

Good news, we have another game sponsor who joined the crusade. The new sponsor is ShinyLoot! ShinyLoot is a game distributor (with about 300 games at the moment) focused on especially Indie games and more, which contain no DRM or in a few cases uses a serial. They claim to be anti-DRM which is in my opinion THE way of thinking, just as GOG.com does. You can read their complete vision about it up here…. Their game collection contains Windows games from which quite a number for the Mac as well. Because they are indie focused, they have quite a number of games in their collection GOG.com and Gamersgate doesn’t have. So this is a nice extra besides Gamersgate and GOG.com. They will sponsor me as well (just like Gamersgate and GOG.com) games so I can test and use them to port those to the Mac.

I made a banner on the blog sidebar to show they are an official sponsor now. Welcome aboard ShinyLoot!

Maldita Castilla for the Mac!

Besides Hydorah, I have done Maldita Castilla as well! Maldita Castilla is a great old school action platform game! Its gameplay brings you as well back in the time of Megaman and Roque look-a-likes! Another cool thing about it is, that it’s free of charge! Why waiting? Download the wrapper from the slider and start playing this free game!

Maldita Castilla is an action arcade game full of myths from Spain and the rest of Europe. The graphic style is raw, made pixel by pixel with a limited color palette, like in the old days, and displayed through a dirty old monitor effect. Also, Gryzor87 composed the music emulating the Yamaha YM2203 sound chip, so that the game has real arcade sound. It pays homage to classic arcade games from 1985-1987 like Ghost’n’Goblins, Tiger Road, Black Tiger, Shinobi, Rygar, Karnov, Trojan and many others… taking influences from medieval paintings and places, and inspired by the best chivalry book ever: The Amadis of Gaul.

Hydorah for the Mac!

Tonight we go back in time…Who remembers Space Mambow or Nemesis on the MSX? I played that game a lot with my older brother those days. Now you can relive that time with a nice look-a-like :) Its simple but still addicting to beat your highest score and defeating the bosses! Another cool thing about it is, that it’s Free! Why waiting, download, extract and play! Hydorah is a Windows freeware game developed by Locomalito, which I ported to the Mac. Watch the trailer below to feel the old gameplay again….

Choose the path to follow and fight planet by planet against hordes of meroptians. Hydorah features lots of short and intense levels with fantasy spacial landscapes, unlockable weapons, secrets, and a large library of enemies and bosses. There is a single dificulty level, based on the 80’s standards. It can be hard, but with every beaten level there will come the glory.

Spec Ops: The Line released for Mac!

Some more good news! A game what was on the todo list to be ported, has been released for the Mac yesterday! The game I am talking about is: Spec Ops: The Line! This game brings you with your team to the desert of Dubai to find out what is going on there after a mayor sandstorm… Check out the trailer below to see the gameplay.

It’s been 6 months since Dubai was wiped off the map by a cataclysmic sandstorm. Thousands of lives were lost, including those of American soldiers sent to evacuate the city. Today, the city lies buried under sand, the world’s most opulent ruin. Now, a mysterious radio signal is picked-up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city. Their mission is simple: Locate survivors and radio for Evac. What they find is a city in the grip of war. To save Dubai, they’ll have to find the man at the heart of its madness—Col. John Konrad.

The Interstate ’76 Arsenal for the Mac!

Great news! I managed to port The Interstate ’76 Arsenal to the Mac! It’s a very known old action racing game. The game has over 800 ratings on GOG.com, so this means that the game is quite popular. Simply get the game from GOG.com and install it into the wrapper  and follow the video instructions. A cool coincidence is that the game is on sale now with 60% off!! So get the game cheap now you can!

It’s 1976… a different ’76. Stretched out before you are thousands of miles of desert – the American Southwest. The massive engine roars as you slam down the throttle. It’s time to get funked up…You are Groove Champion, auto-vigilante. Your agenda: payback for your dead sister. Your weapon: A 425-horsepower ’72 Picard Piranha with two 50-caliber machine guns on the roof and a flamethrower on the side. You’re one mean dude in an even meaner ride.

Wine 1.7.6 released!

Wine 1.7.6 released!

Wine 1.7.6 is released just now! The wine version will be buildt in an engine and will be available in “Winery“. Winery is a program where you can build wrappers with, and is available on the Wineskin website. I use Winery to buildt all my wrappers for this website. Because the new Wine is just released, the engine itself is not available yet in Winery, but will be added soon by Doh123 (Wineskin developer).

There is quite some things done in this release including d3d stuff and Mac driver improvements. See more details below.

What’s new in this release:

  • Rewrite of the BiDi algorithm for full Unicode 6.3 support.
  • Support for Video Mixing Renderer version 7.
  • Better handling of window resizes in the Mac driver.
  • Various bug fixes.

King Arthur’s Gold released for Mac!

King Arthur’s Gold is an amazing very promising Indie platform game. Multiplayer possibility up to 32 players makes this game highly recommending and challenging! This Mac game is available on GOG.com and can be purchased there. Use the links mentioned here to get the game and start the fun! Check out the trailer below for the gameplay!

King Arthur’s Gold is a multiplayer game played with up to 32 players. Build castles and wage war on the enemy team as a knight, archer or builder in a fully destructible medieval world. It blends the best cooperative aspects of Lost Vikings, mashes them with Worms, with the visual style of Metal Slug, made by the creators of Soldat.

More speed, virtual server is coming up!

New website, WordPress and more visitors means upgrading the site to a faster server. I have been busy past 2 days to setting this thing up and it takes a bit of preparation so that the site has not much hinderense of it. So good news for us all, this means faster loading pages (also depending on your internet speed of course) and better browse experience! Hope to have this all implanted within a couple of days! So all heads up and I let you know when it is finished! Meanwhile all activities on the site will go on of course ;)

Gamersgate download file problem solved!

Great news! Problem that there was no way to download the Windows installers on your Mac on your Gamersgate shelf is solved!! After an urgent call to them they replied as follow:

I totally understand why you need this and what you are doing. I have made some changes now so you will also get smaller links to the downloader for the system you are not on. So when you are on a Mac you will also get a link to the Windows downloader and the other way around. Thanks for the notifying us about this!

This means the blue download button is still gone and a text link is there instead (see screenshot). So a big horay for Gamersgate for fixing it! Now we can all download our favorite game download files again!

Download button gone on Gamersgate! (reported!)

Download button gone on Gamersgate! (reported!)

Here a quick some quick news. Gamersgate did today a change on their site which causes you only to see the download buttons of the game of the specific platform (in our case Mac). So this means if you bought or want to buy a Windows game there to install in one of my wrappers, you won’t see the download link of your puchased game on your account-shelf on Gamersgate!!! This means you need to download the downloader file (256kb) from a PC and put it on a usb stick and then put it on your Mac in order to download the game after all. This is unnecessary, so I already reported this to Gamersgate so I hope they have fixed it back again tomorrow or so. So be aware that this issue is there only for Windows download files. Remember that Mac games and Steam games (yes also Windows Steam games which only contains a serial) are NOT effected. So again, I reported this issue to Gamersgate and expect the fix this very soon. Bare with me guys!
