New Wineskin Video Tutorial: How to install a game into Wineskin

I made a new video about how to install a game into Wineskin. I pursue to make a Wrapper and a Crosstie for all games. This will be an Utopia because some games will only work in Crossover and some only in Wineskin. To avoid me making videos of the same instructions all the time, I made this basic install instruction for Wineskin Wrappers. This video will be the standard for the new game pages where no CrossTie is available and only works in a Wrapper. The Wrappers on the site are pre-configured/finetuned/tweaked for that specific game, so only this basic video instruction are required to get the game running on your Mac. I hope you guys will enjoy the video and that it will help you with the basic installation of a Windows game into Wineskin.

Besides below, you can find this video on the specific new game pages and on the Wineskin Video Tutorial page.

Banished for the Mac! (Update)

Update: Its seemed that the Wrapper worked fine on Nvidia but not on AMD Radeon and Intel Graphics Macs. Fixed that part now with the latest wrapper update of Banished! Works now on Intel Graphics, AMD Radeon and Nvidia! Enjoy!!

On request and just out for 2 days: Banished! Build a city with any layout you want with almost no restriction on when, what, and where you build. Keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter. Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more! The game doesn’t work in Crossover yet so I made Wrapper for it. Crossover will stay primary on the site, but that doesn’t mean I won’t make any Wrappers now and then :). I won’t make for each game a new video anymore, only when some specific instructions are needed. Normally its just very basic: extract –> install game into wrapper –> set the start executable and play! If you don’t own the game yet, I strongly advise you to buy Banished on which is DRM free. Check out the trailer below to get introduced to the game!

Banished is a city building game where you control a group of exiled people who are restarting their lives in the wilderness. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland. The townspeople work, build, get older, have children, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and fed are essential to making a successful town grow. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so.

Darksiders 2 for the Mac!

Another very popular game is added on the game catoloque! Darksiders II is now playable on your Mac using Crossover! If you don’t own the game yet, I strongly advise to get it from Gamersgate tested that version on my Nvidia 640M iMac and works in great performance on my system. 512MB Graphics card is really recommended for this one. Tested the game for about an hour and no issues encountered. Enjoy this one!

Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen, embarks upon a quest to restore mankind, and redeem his brother’s name. Along the way, the Horseman discovers that there are far worse things than an earthly Apocalypse, and that an ancient grudge may threaten all of Creation…

STALKER: Call of Pripyat for the Mac

For today I have a very popular game as a surprise: STALKER: Call of Pripyat! If you don’t own the game yet, I strongly advise you to buy STALKER: Call of Pripyat on which is DRM free. The Gamersgate version of the game contains TAGES DRM which will fail to start. The game works quite nice on 512mb GFX card altough the game works in Directx9 mode only (still great graphics of course) because Directx 11 isn’t working in Wine yet. I created a CrossTie for the version and works quite nice using Crossover! I rated the game “Silver” for now because of the Directx 11 and the game will be quite slow if you have all graphics settings on high. I played the game for about an hour on medium settings and high resolution and that worked fine for me. Check out the PC trailer below to get introduced to the game.

The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Having discovered about the open path to the Zone center, the government decides to hold a large-scale military “Fairway” operation aimed to take the CNPP under control

Some website news!

Some website news!

Here a special post about the latest news around the website. It’s bin a while and there are a couple of things I want to share with you guys about some things which is actual at the moment and about some new things to come.

1. Speed Website:
Well, the site was terrible slow this weekend and performance wasn’t that good lately. If correct and I hope it also counts for you guys, that the performance is improved drasticly. Manesh Sona did some fine-tuning on the site and we disabled some plugins which might have been the cause of it. So this is great news!

2. Some incoming changes!
We are working on some new features to implant, and the first thing is the Login possibility on the website. Manesh is working on that one as well and will implant an extra section for VIP members. Yes VIP/Premium membership features will change a bit as well because of the Crossover application and I have to think about that one, how to give that shape. Probably there will be only 1 Premium version and the Gold Silver and Bronze will be something of the past. This isn’t final yet, have to think about that one. Also the search option will be implanted which will make it more easy to search for games. When you have some special desires then please email me about it so I can take it in consideration.

3. Filehosting changes:
I have scattered all the wrappers on 3 different filehost/cloudhost companies, all with its own features and flaws and I have decided to bring it back to one. I never had issues with mediafire but the file size was the only problem then. This has been changed lately so I will move back to Mediafire and keep the other expensive filehosters behind me as well. One place one price and this saves me quite some money on filehosting. Nice plan, but it takes a while to move about 600 wrappers to another file hoster and then change all the links again on all the game pages.

4. The things left:
The last other things: I have 20TB a month bandwidth on Filefactory and believe it or not, for this month we exceeded it already! Its 18 February and luckily it is a short month because until the end of the month when downloading a wrapper there will be some Filefactory ads appearing before download. Choose in that case the “slow download” which is the free one. Other thing left is that the “Contact Form” is still not working (is been worked on) so when you need help sent me an email mentioned on the contact page. Last but not least the forum will be closed because it is unfortunately hijacked by spammers. So I redirect for Crossover to the Crossover Website and for wrapper questions email me.

Tank Operations: European Campaign for the Mac

A very nice strategy game in the way of Panzer General 2 for today! The game is called: Tank Operations: European Campaign and works as in Windows in my tests on my Nvidia 640M iMac. Engaging and intense turn-based gameplay, feel the weight of the war on your shoulders as the AI reacts to your every move on the battlefield. The battle scenarios range from the landing of Allied troops in northwestern Africa to the invasion of Southern Italy, and wrap with the liberation of Paris and the final battle in Berlin! This great game is available on Gamersgate and works great using Crossover! Watch the trailer below to get convinced!

Tank Operations: European Campaign is a turn-based, tactical wargame featuring a dozen nail-biting historical scenarios set on the diverse battlefields of World War II. With more than 50 faithfully-rendered, authentic military combat units, along with sabotage options and the need to manage your supply chain, the game will keep armchair generals occupied for hours in realistic combat scenarios.

Doomdark’s Revenge released for the Mac!

Today another Mac game is released on Doomdark’s Revenge is a revamped version of the 1985 game, retaining its gameplay and graphical style, just adding some more intuitive interface and high resolution graphics. At its core, however, this is the exact same title that enthralled the imagination of many gamers almost three decades ago. The turn based game mixes elements of an adventure with a robust, well-written storyline, an epic wargame in which you manage and command large armies, and a role-playing game with much focus on exploration of the game’s incredibly detailed landscape. You already slew the evil Witchking Doomdark, now you’re up against his wicked daughter, Shareth, the Witchqueen of Carnage. This is no easy task, as the sequel introduces a whole new level of independence to the NPCs whose help you need to complete it, and beating the game in any of the possible ways will prove quite a challenge. Let one of the oldest, yet greatest stories ever told in a computer game unfold before you!

Because of it’s outdated graphics, I won’t create a seperate game page of this one, but it is still worth making a blogpost of it. This way the people who do love this kind of games, know it is there and can get it from Check the trailer below for the gameplay of old times.

Eschalon: Book III released for the Mac!

Last Friday there was another game released for the Mac on! Eschalon: Book III brings the trilogy to a climactic end as you seek to uncover the mystery of your past, the secrets of the Crux stones, and who the Orakur really are. You’ll traverse miles of virtual wilderness and dungeons, filled with secrets and danger, in an unparalleled role-playing experience designed to feel like a true pen-and-paper RPG. Eschalon: Book III is now available for Mac on so if you love fantasy RPG games, then this one might be worthy to check out.

Book III is not a dumbed-down “RPG for the masses”. Rapid button clicking won’t save you here. Eschalon pays honor to the greatest RPGs of the past, with unlimited character development options and freedom to explore the world as you wish. The difficulty of the game does not scale to your character.
