Wine 1.7.17 is released!

Wine 1.7.17 is released just now! The wine version will be build in an engine and will be available in “Winery“. Winery is a program where you can build wrappers with, and is available on the Wineskin website. I used Winery to build all my Wrappers for this website. The Wine engine itself is already available in Winery, so download and test it with your games when interested! There were quite some regression test fixes implanted and quite some d3d fixes as well. Another interesting improvement is that there are some fixes in the joystick support. See more details below and on WineHQ.

The Wine development release 1.7.17 is now available.

What’s new in this release:

  • More implementations for the Task Scheduler.
  • C runtime made more compatible by sharing source files.
  • Fixes in the Mac OS X joystick support.
  • Various bug fixes.

World of Tanks 9.0 Update!

Edit: I updated the normal World of Tanks Wrapper (AMD version is still in tact) which is Intel/Nvidia optimized. (Has better performance and should fix a close/crash of game after a battle)

World of Tanks got an update a few days back. This update was especially focused on graphics. Well in Wine this can be a good thing or a bad thing, also dependent on the video card you have in your Mac. For AMD Radeon for example, it worked always good. Good FPS, no glitches, etc. On Nvidia and Intel it is a different story. Anyway, I got some questions about World of Tanks that the game crashes after one battle since the latest 9.0 update. So I looked into the matter and spent the whole night testing and tweaking. A thing I saw was the graphics tab was different. You can improve the graphics and Field of View (FOV) or decrease it, but the last one you should do to get some performance improvements.

In the end I created now 2 Wrapper flavors which is specialized on the specific GFX cards. With both my Nvidia iMac with 512mb and My AMD Radeon 670M I could play about 3 games in a row without any troubles. Yes, the wrappers aren’t flawless and you should check which wrapper works best for you. I created a game play video with the 9.0 version of WOT to show how it works at the moment. Enjoy!

Six more Dungeon & Dragons Mac games available on GOG.com

I checked GOG.com today for some news and it seems that they ported 6 Dungeon & Dragons games which I ported already ages ago. Nevertheless, this is good news, because now GOG.com offers official support for the Mac games, because they sell the game officially for the Mac now. And what you sell, you need to support. The six games which are now officially available for the Mac now are: Baldur’s Gate: The Original Saga, Baldur’s Gate 2 Complete, Icewind Dale Complete, Icewind Dale 2 Complete, Planescape: Torment, and the non-infinity engine but still a D&D classic, Temple of Elemental Evil!

I updated the game pages on my website with the new Mac releases, because the Wrappers are now not nessecerry anymore. Enjoy the official Mac games!

Website up again after issues datacenter Bluehost!

I migrated the website not long ago to a more expensive faster and “more reliable” Web hosting company called Bluehost. Unfortunately Bluehost suffered yesterday from an issue on the data center which caused an outage for this website as well. The website has been down for about 14 hours and many people may have have wondered what the heck was going on. I found out by a news post that it was the data center which had a problem. I sent in a complained to them so I hope I get some compensation for this matter (a few months free hosting or something like that).

So, I am sorry for the inconvenience and hope the site will be stay stable from now on.

Unreal 2 for the Mac!

I already did port Unreal Tournament 2004 a few days back, but here is the port for Unreal 2: The Awakening as well! Most middle aged guys will know this game from school days. Especially Unreal Tournament and Unreal which I ported also. I know it is a bit late, but with the Battle of the Games action, Unreal 2 is only $2,49 (75% off) at the moment, so if you like it then you can get it cheap now on GOG.com! Check out the trailer below to refresh some memories!

Not Your Average Mission – Command a team of marines defending a ravaged base. Infiltrate an enemy stronghold. Rescue the trapped survivor of an alien raid. With a demanding array of objectives, you have one overriding goal – survival. Be ready for anything. Unreal Graphics and Sound – Awe-inspiring graphics immerse you in a swarm of alien worlds full of breathtaking scenery and brutal action. 3D sound envelops you in hailstorms of bullets, mind-jarring explosions and the eerie chatter of alien tongues.

Moebius: Empire Rising released for the Mac!

An amazing adventure game from the Phoenix Online Studios has been released! Moebius: Empire Rising is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. Get the game now on GOG.com or Gamersgate! Check out the trailer below to get introduced to the game!

When a secretive government agency enlists him to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, Malachi is left with only questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him — a dealer of high-end antiques — to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come every time Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Unreal Tournament 2004 for the Mac!

Unreal Tournament 2004 is a game many will know as the successor of Unreal and Unreal Tournament. Face off to defend and attack fortified bases in the fan-favorite Assault Mode, and take team combat to the next level in Onslaught Mode, which brings vehicular combat into its own with a variety of land-, air- and space-based vehicles. Over 95 maps are available, including more than 45 brand new maps for all existing game-play modes! If you don’t own the game yet, I strongly advise you to buy Unreal Tournament 2004 on Gamersgate or on GOG.com which is DRM free and works out of the box! I have a Wrapper and CrossTie available for this game. Check out the trailer below to refresh some memories! Have fun!

Unreal Tournament 2004 offers up the kill-or-be-killed experience of gladiatorial combat in 10 game modes – both team-based and “every man for himself” – which provide even the most hardcore gamer with palm-sweating challenges through unbelievably detailed indoor arenas and vast outdoor environments.

Assassin Creed Revelation Wrapper update!

Finally an update for the Assassin Creed Revelation Port! The Wrapper suffered with some flaws which causes glitches for the latest Nvidia cards and even a crash after patching it to 1.03! All this stuff is fixed in the new Wrapper. I played this game on my Nvidia 640M GFX iMac and it runs quite well. The game still suffers (as for Assassin Creed 1) with a slight performance issue which makes the game not perfect, but still good to play. You can play the game with a 512mb GFX card in 1920×1080 resolution without making the performance worse, so I was quite happy with the result.  The Porting Kit has Uplay pre-installed, so its a matter of download the wrapper –> Extract –> login –> activate the serial–> download and play! So have fun!

Changes:
– Uplay pre-installed
– Graphic glitch fix Nvidia Cards
– Fix crash which appeared after latest patch.
