NFS Hot pursuit Wrapper update!

Here a Wrapper update for the Non-Origin version (origin client doesn’t work yet in Wine) and of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. I still own the digital version of Gamersgate from a few years back which contains a a activation key including the game download and works very nice in the wrapper on my Nviia 640M iMac including login to EA games online services. I fixed an activation bug and and a Gamersgate installer issue (“failed to sign in Error 12056 in network connection”) which prevented you to download the game from Gamersgate using their installer file. Enjoy!

Changes:
Fix of an Gamersgate download issue
Fix activation issue with the Digital version of the game (Non-origin)

Video Crimzon Clover: World Ignition + Review

Here as promised, the video tutorial of Crimzon Clover: World Ignition. I will also do a little review of this game as well, just as I did with Wings Remastered a few days back. Crimson Clover is Vertical Shooter you know of on arcade machines. Lots of action, lots of explosions and lots of bonuses. I played this game on my Nvidia 640M iMac with Mavericks and on my Intel HD 4000 Macbook air. On both systems it works flawless with about 60 fps (see also video).

The controls are the z (fire) .x (rockets) .c (destruction wave) .v (menu) + cursor keys to control you space ship. You can choose from 3 space ships, all with its own advantages. I played about and hour (about 2x 30 minutes on both Macs) and I have to say it wasn’t disappointing. I normally don’t play this kind of games, but while playing and getting loads of points and bonuses, it keeps you playing to see what end boss will appear now? Also the joy of ending a level gives a good feeling that you were victorious. There are 2 modes you can play (novice and arcade), but I especially liked the novice mode, maybe because thats more easy :P. Another nice feature is the “replay”, where you watch how good or bad you played the specific level. All in all this game gets 5 of 5 stars from me, because it simply works as attended in all ways. Enjoy!

Wine 1.7.33 released!

Another new Wine version is out on WineHQ since yesterday! The wine version is now build in an engine and will be available in “Winery“. Winery is a program where you can build wrappers with, and is available on the Wineskin website. I used Winery to build all my Wrappers for this website. The engine itself isn’t available in winery yet, but doh123 will add it as soon as he can. There are some extra mshtml improvements and even more DirectWrite functions fixes. See more details below and on WineHQ.

You can change the wine engine in existing Wrappers doing: Right-click Wrapper –> show package content –> wineskin –. advanced –> tools –> change engine –> change it to the latest engine you downloaded, in this case 1.7.33.

The Wine development release 1.7.33 is now available.

What’s new in this release:

  • Support for copy/paste commands in MSHTML.
  • Some more font support in DirectWrite.
  • Better handling for loss of focus in Direct3D windows.
  • Several more API Sets DLLs.
  • Various bug fixes.

Wings Remastered video + review!

A little bit later then expected, but as promised here the video tutorial of Wings: Remastered Edition! Because of this extra post I take the opportunity to make a little review of the game as well.

For the Amiga fans Wings was the best WW1 Flight Simulator around and was very popular. And as an old Amiga fan I was thrilled to see the Remastered version arriving at GOG.com. I got the game. Ported it to the Mac and did some tests on my Intel Graphics HD 4000 Macbook with Yosemite and Nvidia 640M iMac and it works awesome. I launched the game and saw the startup videos as it should be, and got into the game menu. I created a pilot and started the tutorials. First the 3d simulation”destroy the balloon” mission and then the 2 non-simulator missions destroying the crates and bombing the 2 barracks. All 3 “Born to fly” successful! Then you can join the squadron and start the campaign. Your logbook starts and you get thrown at the one mission to another.

I really loved the 3d Simulation air-battles when I was totally outnumbered and downing one opponent another. I have to say it is much more easier to shoot down a plane then in the original Wings Amiga Emulated edition. But this might also be because I choose the difficulty level”easy”. While playing about 1.5 hours of game-play I am starting to be really glad of this port result, and giving this port a 5 out 5 rating. Not only because of the test result, but being an old Amiga fan might have helped a bit as well ;) Enjoy the game and really recommend this one!

Wings Remasted Edition for the Mac!

Here counts as well that in the video below you can see the visual instructions + a little bit of game-play.
