BlueMSX (MSX Emulator) for Mac

Yep, it is time to also add Applications to Porting Kit. BlueMSX is the first one of a long row :) Blue MSX is simply the best and most complete emulator for MSX and it took a while to get it finally working properly and the show stopper is now addressed by a workaround having the BlueMSX Application full screen when starting a game/program. It is also mentioned in bold in the application description and video (yep, made a new video after some silence in creating videos). So we are still deciding if for apps there will be a separate tab, but for now we put it between the normal games.

App Description:
The blueMSX MSX emulator is approaching its third anniversary and in this short time it has established itself as the most advanced and feature rich MSX emulator. It supports most common machines and a wide variety of extension hardware. A feature rich debugger is also included in the emulator. During the last two years, the MSX emulation has been extended and support for other systems have been added. blueMSX is now also an SVI emulator, and supports the ColecoVision and Sega SG-1000, SC-3000, SF-7000 consoles.

Close Combat 4 – Battle of the Bulge for Mac

Great news! Close Combat 4 – Battle of the Bulge for Mac is added to Porting Kit! The game series have been released day-before-yesterday, so I pushed other stuff away, and started to port these series. I tested the first three (Normandy, Russian front and Battle of the Bulge), from which I managed to port the last two (the others I still need to look at). So here is the second post for Close Combat 4 – Battle of the BulgeBoth games works great although in 800×600 resolution only and you have to disable in-game videos to prevent trouble. So make sure to de-select that in the game launcher and start the fun!

Install is simple:
1. Get Porting Kit or Crossover if you don’t have it yet.
2. Then download the GOG.com setup file from Close Combat 4 from GOG into your download folder.
3. Then in Porting Kit search the game in the library –> server tab and click install.
4. After installation of the game, “exit” the GOG installer.
5. Click “Play” to start the game! Have fun!

Game Description:

Dungeons 3 released for Mac

Released for Mac on GOG.com: Dungeon 3! Dungeons 3 is a very enjoyable game and a refreshing take on dungeon management and RTS games. The graphics are beautiful, the voice acting is great and the music is so good. The narrator’s familiar voice and narrating style fits well with the humour and all the references make me smile and shake my head at the same time. It’s an easy to understand game but hard to master. The overworld has all the same controls as an RTS with all the base building happening underground in the twisted DK style.

If you liked the Dungeon Keeper and the Warcraft RTS series… and maybe The Stanley Parable… you’ll love this game!
