Age of Empires Definitive Edition for Mac
Many people already found out, but here is the official announcement of the Age of Empires Definitive Edition game port in Porting Kit! Bringing together all of the officially released content with modernized gameplay, all-new visuals and a host of other new features, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is the complete RTS package. Engage in over 40 hours of updated campaign content with new narration and pacing, jump online in up to 8-player battles with new competitive features and modes.
I also made a video tutorial (on my M1 Apple Silicon Macbook Air) with some gameplay including the fix for deleting the (intro) content in the video folder of the game to make the game work.
– Works on AMD Radeon (2GB Vram+) and Apple Silicon Macs
– Does not run on Intel Iris/Intel HD.
Basic Portingkit Install Instructions Steam games:
1. Get the cheap steam serial of Age of Empires Definitive Edition here from K4G.com
2. Always read the “notes” of the game description first for additional steps!
3. Go to the library server tab and select the game you want to install and click “Install”
4. Portingkit will create the wrapper and locate your setup file in your download folder
5. The installation of the game will start, run through the install wizard.
6. Porting kit will say it has finished successfully.
7. Go to your local library tab and select the game and click “play”!
9. Login into the Windows Steam and activate the serial and download and play!!

Dear Paulthetall,
First of all, I would like to thank you for your wonderful, generous work. These past years, you gave me the opportunity to relive my best childhood memories, playing a lot of legacy game on my Mac.
I’m posting here for the first time since I’m very frustrated trying to play Age Of Empires Definitive Edition.
Here’s the situation :
– I have a Macbook Pro M1 (2020) 16go, running Sonoma 14.5
– I bought AOE:DE on Kingouin as adviced on Portingkit
– I did all the installations step normally, then I downloaded AOE:DE via Steam, I installed it, and I clicked on “Play”
– I have the first loading window of AOE:DE appearing (not the full screen, real game menu, but the thing just before the game really run, I think you understand me)
– I have two errors messages, first one saying “The system video adapter does not meet the minimum specifications, you may have a poor game experience” then “AOE:DE didn’t initialized the graphic rendering engine DirectX. Check your graphic card can run DirectX11 and that your pilots are updated” (poorly translated from french, sorry)
– I tried again with “Steambuild 32/64 DXVK” and also with “Steambuild 32/64 Direct3D”, after uninstalling the game then reinstalling it each time : same result

UPDATE : Just tried with “Steambuild Metal”, still doesn’t work but now there is only one error message which is : “Unable to set DirectX Multithreading mode”
