Rome Total War: Alexander released for the Mac!

Great news, I remembered in the past that someone asked me to port the Windows version of Rome Total War so he would be able to play Alexander as well. Well, this isn’t needed anymore! Because since a few days Rome: Total War – Alexander (Mac) is been natively released for the Mac! This Mac expansion is now available on Gamersgate and requires the original Rome: Total War Gold Edition (Mac) game in order to play it. If you don’t remember the game, then let the trailer below refresh your mind :)

Rome: Total War: Alexander is the second expansion for Rome: Total War. It is set in an earlier time period, putting the player in the role of Alexander the Great. It begins with Alexander’s ascension to the Macedonian throne in 336 BC and lasts for 100 turns, each of which, unlike the original game and the first expansion, Barbarian Invasion, do not represent six months (assuming that it follows Alexander’s actual reign of thirteen years, each turn would represent nearly seven weeks). The game is much the same as the original Rome: Total War, but with fewer factions, different units, and a different map. The player’s goal is to conquer 30 provinces, including key cities such as Tyre, Halicarnassus and Babylon, within the 100 turn limit.

I created a game page on the site for this expansion here…

Doomdark’s Revenge released for the Mac!

Today another Mac game is released on GOG.com. Doomdark’s Revenge is a revamped version of the 1985 game, retaining its gameplay and graphical style, just adding some more intuitive interface and high resolution graphics. At its core, however, this is the exact same title that enthralled the imagination of many gamers almost three decades ago. The turn based game mixes elements of an adventure with a robust, well-written storyline, an epic wargame in which you manage and command large armies, and a role-playing game with much focus on exploration of the game’s incredibly detailed landscape. You already slew the evil Witchking Doomdark, now you’re up against his wicked daughter, Shareth, the Witchqueen of Carnage. This is no easy task, as the sequel introduces a whole new level of independence to the NPCs whose help you need to complete it, and beating the game in any of the possible ways will prove quite a challenge. Let one of the oldest, yet greatest stories ever told in a computer game unfold before you!

Because of it’s outdated graphics, I won’t create a seperate game page of this one, but it is still worth making a blogpost of it. This way the people who do love this kind of games, know it is there and can get it from GOG.com. Check the trailer below for the gameplay of old times.

Eschalon: Book III released for the Mac!

Last Friday there was another game released for the Mac on GOG.com! Eschalon: Book III brings the trilogy to a climactic end as you seek to uncover the mystery of your past, the secrets of the Crux stones, and who the Orakur really are. You’ll traverse miles of virtual wilderness and dungeons, filled with secrets and danger, in an unparalleled role-playing experience designed to feel like a true pen-and-paper RPG. Eschalon: Book III is now available for Mac on GOG.com so if you love fantasy RPG games, then this one might be worthy to check out.

Book III is not a dumbed-down “RPG for the masses”. Rapid button clicking won’t save you here. Eschalon pays honor to the greatest RPGs of the past, with unlimited character development options and freedom to explore the world as you wish. The difficulty of the game does not scale to your character.

Silent Service 1 + 2 released for the Mac!

Silent Service 1 + 2 is very known old Submarine Simulator game. The cool thing about Silent Service 2 is what I can remember when I played it on my Amiga back in the days, is that it is never the same if you patrol through the pacific! Tons of challenges and good for hundreds and hundreds of game hours. This amazing game and it’s predecessor  is now available for Mac on GOG.com. I found a gameplay video on youtube which should give you an idea of the game. Enjoy!

From the second you take command, you’ll live by the motto FIND ‘EM, CHASE ‘EM, SINK ‘EM, as you follow instruments, charts and your instincts in search of hostile convoys. Is a submerged daylight periscope attack best or do you charge in on the surface at night using only radar bearings to guide you? Do you fire a spread of your precious torpedoes or can you close the range and pick off the enemy with a single torpedo shot? These decisions and many more are yours to make as you take your place among the elite ranks of the Silent Service!

What happened to Beethro on his first excursion into King Dugan’s Dungeon? Well, mainly it was just the usual dungeon exterminator’s subterranean grind: killing off thousands of roaches, chopping through tar, guzzling mimic potions, and generally ridding the King’s underground chambers of all that should not be there. But also Beethro met an unexpected enemy, created lifelong grudges against him, and learned secrets that would later motivate his journey to Rooted Hold.
