Fixed some links…

Fixed some links...

Someone mentiond that the link of Castle of Illusions didn’t work. So I checked, and he was right. I saw zero downloads in the statistics, so I fixed the link I then ran with a quick eye to some of the pages of the links and saw some more links which needed a fix (zero downloads). Below some more of them. So if you run in any link which doesn’t work, simply use the contact form (use the alternate emailadres for now), and sent me an email with the question to fix the link so I can do so.

Most issues website migration solved!

Most issues website migration solved!

Good news! After a lot of trouble, the  issues (except one) of the migration are solved now!

– Forum: Is available again, so post all you things up there.
– Featured Images are displayed correctly again (fixed)
– I couldn’t upload images/screenshots anymore, is now fixed as well.
– Contactform isn’t working, it does say that the message is sent but mail does not arrive on my side. (still an issue working on it)

I keep you guys in updated about that last point. So then you know that the mails which are sent past 3 days haven’t arrived on my side. So if you are wondering why I am not answering then you know now ;) Instead I have mentioned some alternative instructions on the contact page how to reach me.

Site is up again but with some problems…(we are working on it)

As you have noticed the website is online again after 18 hours (Thank God!) However, there are still some issues. Like:

1. Featured images not visible on blog
2. Forum not reachable
3. Email/contactform not working

Those Issues are worked on. So I hope it will be resolved this weekend as well. Thanks for the understanding!

ShinyLoot joins as game sponsor on Paulthetall.com!

ShinyLoot joins as game sponsor on Paulthetall.com!

Good news, we have another game sponsor who joined the crusade. The new sponsor is ShinyLoot! ShinyLoot is a game distributor (with about 300 games at the moment) focused on especially Indie games and more, which contain no DRM or in a few cases uses a serial. They claim to be anti-DRM which is in my opinion THE way of thinking, just as GOG.com does. You can read their complete vision about it up here…. Their game collection contains Windows games from which quite a number for the Mac as well. Because they are indie focused, they have quite a number of games in their collection GOG.com and Gamersgate doesn’t have. So this is a nice extra besides Gamersgate and GOG.com. They will sponsor me as well (just like Gamersgate and GOG.com) games so I can test and use them to port those to the Mac.

I made a banner on the blog sidebar to show they are an official sponsor now. Welcome aboard ShinyLoot!

Wine 1.7.6 released!

Wine 1.7.6 released!

Wine 1.7.6 is released just now! The wine version will be buildt in an engine and will be available in “Winery“. Winery is a program where you can build wrappers with, and is available on the Wineskin website. I use Winery to buildt all my wrappers for this website. Because the new Wine is just released, the engine itself is not available yet in Winery, but will be added soon by Doh123 (Wineskin developer).

There is quite some things done in this release including d3d stuff and Mac driver improvements. See more details below.

What’s new in this release:

  • Rewrite of the BiDi algorithm for full Unicode 6.3 support.
  • Support for Video Mixing Renderer version 7.
  • Better handling of window resizes in the Mac driver.
  • Various bug fixes.

More speed, virtual server is coming up!

More speed, virtual server is coming up!

New website, WordPress and more visitors means upgrading the site to a faster server. I have been busy past 2 days to setting this thing up and it takes a bit of preparation so that the site has not much hinderense of it. So good news for us all, this means faster loading pages (also depending on your internet speed of course) and better browse experience! Hope to have this all implanted within a couple of days! So all heads up and I let you know when it is finished! Meanwhile all activities on the site will go on of course ;)

Gamersgate download file problem solved!

Great news! Problem that there was no way to download the Windows installers on your Mac on your Gamersgate shelf is solved!! After an urgent call to them they replied as follow:

I totally understand why you need this and what you are doing. I have made some changes now so you will also get smaller links to the downloader for the system you are not on. So when you are on a Mac you will also get a link to the Windows downloader and the other way around. Thanks for the notifying us about this!

This means the blue download button is still gone and a text link is there instead (see screenshot). So a big horay for Gamersgate for fixing it! Now we can all download our favorite game download files again!

Download button gone on Gamersgate! (reported!)

Download button gone on Gamersgate! (reported!)

Here a quick some quick news. Gamersgate did today a change on their site which causes you only to see the download buttons of the game of the specific platform (in our case Mac). So this means if you bought or want to buy a Windows game there to install in one of my wrappers, you won’t see the download link of your puchased game on your account-shelf on Gamersgate!!! This means you need to download the downloader file (256kb) from a PC and put it on a usb stick and then put it on your Mac in order to download the game after all. This is unnecessary, so I already reported this to Gamersgate so I hope they have fixed it back again tomorrow or so. So be aware that this issue is there only for Windows download files. Remember that Mac games and Steam games (yes also Windows Steam games which only contains a serial) are NOT effected. So again, I reported this issue to Gamersgate and expect the fix this very soon. Bare with me guys!

Gatekeeper Security reminder Mavericks OSX!

Gatekeeper Security reminder Mavericks OSX!

I am making this post after some emails I got from users which got the message that they cannot open the specific wrapper after updating to OSX Mavericks because it is downloaded from an “unidentified developer”.

To solve this matter simply change the following setting in the security & privacy preferences on your Mac to allow applications to be downloaded anywhere. See also screenshot below. You can get to those security settings by navigating to the apple symbol in the left upper corner. Then go to preferences, and then to the “Security & Privacy” symbol/option. There you can change the setting to “anywhere”. When you changed this setting you will be able to download and open all wrappers again from my site. Sad Apple brings this confusion and is trying to create a kinda monopoly position to only download apps from the appstore or partners. In my opinion there should be an “always allow” option posibility when downloading an app, instead of blocking it straight away. I also put this matter on the FAQ  now people who run into this in the future and didn’t read this post.
