Updated Red Alert 2/Origin client video Tutorial!

As promised to some people having confusing how to installed Red Alert 2/Origin, here a quick updated Tutorial how to install Red Alert on your Mac. I Mention in the video this older version of Origin is temporarily and we are working on a supported updated version of Origin on the Mac. But until the updated port is finished, you guys have to do it with this more out dated version of the Origin Client.

Enjoy the video and I hope this tutorial will take away any confusion of the installation of the Origin Client in Porting Kit and the game itself.

Brother in Arms Earned in Blood and Hell’s Highway also added to Porting Kit!

A bit late, because they were already added the same week as Road to Hill 30, but Brothers in Arms – earned in Blood and Hell’s  Highway are now available in Porting Kit as well :) Brothers in Arms brings you back to WWII in a true story. Especially the Hell’s Highway episode has the best graphics and makes this game a must have for any WW2 shooter fans. The games are available on GOG.com and one of the limited games I really played from start to end. Especially for Hell’s Highway, a medium to High-end Mac is recommended. The other 2 runs very smooth on even low-end Macs :)

Get the new added games on the specific game pages here… and here… ow and while I am busy anyways, Road to Hill 30 here…

Brothers in Arms – Road to Hill 30 for Mac

Maybe you have noticed that GOG.com added the Brothers in Arms Trilogy in their catalog containing all 3 games in the series: Brothers in Arms – earned in Blood, Road to Hill 30, and the highly rated Hell’s  Highway. Those 3 epic war games brings you back to WW2 in a thrilling true story-line where you have to fight your way through the german lines.

I added the Steam version of the trilogy already, but now the GOG.com version will be added separately as well. So yesterday I added the first one: Brothers’s in Arms  Road to Hill 30. That’s the second part of the series. Tonight I will add the first part. and later this week Hell’s Highway.

You can find the Porting Kit page of the game up here….

Age of Empires 3 Wrapper update!

Here a quick heads-up. With Steam dropping support for WinXP and Porting Kit auto-updating the steam ports, the game didn’t work properly anymore in the Windows 7 Environment port. So I fixed that for Age of Empires 3. So everyone experiencing the issue, trash the old wrapper and reinstall the new one and start the fun! I also checked Age of Empires 2 HD and that one seems still to run fine. Besides that the launcher has some more colors then before :P, it launches fine for me after a clean install.

Get the Age of Empires 3 port up here… or find it on the server tab on Porting Kit.

Steam manual update fix Windows XP to Windows 7.

Steam officially now doesn’t support Windows XP Operating Systems. Of course this is unfortunate, but luckily not a disaster. We already made a fix in Porting Kit fixing this for when you install newly a Steam port in the database. But for the people who already installed a Steam port for quite a while now and are not in de mood for deleting and reinstalling the game in Porting Kit, we have a quick simple instruction to fix this manually.

Instruction steps:
Step 1: Go to Porting Kit on the Local Library tab and right-click the port (make sure you activate the right-click option on your magic mouse or touchpad) and in the menu go to “wineskin tools” –> “Wine Configuration”. Then on the general tab you see that the Windows version is set on “Windows XP”, change that to “Windows 7” and “Apply” and exit the Window. Now you are done and ready.

Launch your Steam app and it will update the Steam application and it should work again. The downside of the Windows 7 OS is that the steam store is not showing properly. We implanted a function to fix that part to activate the “Use wineskin unofficial wrapper” in the preferences of Porting Kit. But that requires a reinstall of the game in Porting Kit. But if you don’t need the store and want to only play the already installed game, then you are good to go.

have fun!

Porting Kit 2.9.577 released

Hello everyone! Here is VitorMM! Once again, I’m bringing the latest changes in PK. The latest version at this point is Porting Kit 2.9.577, released today.

The Porting Kit video card detection is better than never. A proper detection should happen with all video cards. Also, GOG Galaxy should be installable in the latest Wine and Wine Staging engines, and that opens room for many new possibilities.

Still, the most important change is the support to the Unofficial Wineskin Wrapper and the WS10 engines. You can enable the Unofficial Wineskin Wrapper in the Porting Kit Preferences. After that, the WS10 engines should be visible and usable. We have huge expectations of using the unofficial wrapper in all of our ports in the future, and the new WS10 engines are the first step towards more modern engines.

We must remember that the support to the Legacy version is going to end soon. Porting Kit 2.9.x is the last one to receive Legacy updates. The latest Wine engines can’t be properly compiled in macOS 10.6 and 10.7, and the number of PK users in those systems is pretty small nowadays.

A special thanks goes to Gcenx, for making the majority of the recent updates in the Unofficial Wineskin wrapper! And another thanks goes to both Gcenx and Brainzyy, for building the latest Wineskin engines, and always improving then in order to support a wide range of users and a wide range of applications!

Red Faction GOG.com Source added!

Here a quick heads up for the game Red Faction. Added the GOG.com Source into porting kit, which is also advised to use above the Gamersgate version. Have fun!

In Red Faction, players find themselves in the middle of a rebellion on the hostile surface of Mars fighting for their freedom against the evil Ultor Corporation. Featuring a sophisticated physics engine, five fully controllable vehicles, a variety of unique natural environments, and Volition’s proprietary Geo-Mod Technology, Red Faction is one of the most advanced second-generation titles ever released for the PlayStation 2. Geo-Mod technology supports the real time, arbitrary modification of the geometry that makes up the game’s environment. This means that players have the full ability to destroy whatever they want. Just point a weapon at an object or structure and shoot — total destruction always follows.
