On many request, and released last week on GOG.com: Warcraft II for Mac! The first Warcraft: Warcraft: Orcs and Humans is already available for Mac on GOG.com, now only the second part Warcraft II port was left but now fulfilled. Install is Simple:
1. Get Porting Kit or Crossover if you don’t have it yet.
2. Then download the GOG.com setup file from Warcraft II from GOG (Remember to download the “offline backup setup files” into your download folder.

Important Porting Kit update!

Important Porting Kit update!

It seemed that one of the latest PK versions breaks the Winetricks installations. This causes for lots of ports which needs the Winetricks, to not function properly. So this also means for Origin! Besides that, Porting Kit had all kind of weird issues in Mojave because of simply that Mac OS is full of bugs :P. Luckily Gcex which is still maintaining the Wineskin source,  adjust Wineskin to handle these bugs of slowness to launch, lots of processor usage, and more. That’s why for Mojave users, we forced the Unofficial Wineskin version by default. This will fix a lot of issues Mojave users have lately. There are some more updates as mentioned below:

  • Fixed: VMWare virtual machines with invalid video memory shouldn’t prompt has invalid
  • Fixed: If the user try to create a custom port with no engine selected, PK shouldn’t crash
  • Changed: If the video card memory size can’t be detected, but the video card has no kext, it should not be reported to GA
  • Improved: If you are using macOS Mojave, the unofficial wrapper should be mandatory
  • Fixed: Winetricks should work in the unofficial Wineskin

So, everyone please, make sure to update to the latest version of PK by checking for updates, using the Porting Kit top bar menu –> and then check for updates. Enjoy!

Diablo GOG.com source added to Porting Kit + Video Tutorial!

As you may have noticed past week, is that Diablo has been re-released on GOG.com in cooperation with Blizzard! So this means you can play the GOG.com version :) So I added the the GOG.com source version of the port in Porting Kit as quick as I could. Now it’s added I also make a video Tutorial of it. The game menu is with GOG.com version still glitchy, but as long the game itself works, then no worries right? :) Enjoy this one!

Install the GOG.com source using Porting Kit, or get the WSI2 file on the Portingkit.com site here…

*Update* future plans Porting Kit!

*Update* future plans Porting Kit!

Hey Guys, here a quick heads up for the plans with Porting Kit coming time (coming 12 months). This also because their might be many questions regarding the 64Bit only transition of Apple of the coming Mac OS and the effect on it on Porting Kit and how further.

Well I can say we are working hard on the future of Porting Kit, to make the past 6/7 years not be in vain with our over a 1000 game ports. Mojave in combination of Porting Kit has some challenges itself as well and requires in many cases to turn on the “unofficial Wineskin” option (using the Porting Kit Preferences –> unofficial Wineskin selectbox). For example Dragon Age Ultimate has some massive performance issues when not using latest Wineskin version (TCCD process is taking lots of  CPU usage).

New updated GUI:
First change will be very soon (timespan weeks), that we change the GUI to a better overview one. The Local library will dissapear as an tab and your ports will be visible on the side, a little bit in the way of GOG Galaxy (picture link) has that implemented. So this saves confusion when you are in local tab or server tab. Now it will be more clear that your installed ports are now on the side bar and the server ports are in the middle/other side.

Linux version of Porting Kit:
Yes, it was whispered in the past, but after the new GUI, this will consume our most attention. A Linux version of Porting Kit. Reason 1, to expand the Porting Kit reach, but even more important, with the future in mind, we need a Linux version to be able to run a Mini Linux version in a Virtual Machine for the smaller 32-bit games. What that means I will explain below. For the Linux version we would gladly receive some help. Are you a Linux programmer? You love Porting Kit? You volunteer to help us out? please contact us (in this case Vitor) using the contact form and help us to make the Linux version ASAP. This would be a great help making the next step possible: Porting Kit Classic (32-bit Virtual Machine)

Porting Kit Classic and Porting Kit Future:
As the subject above already mentions, we gonna split up Porting Kit in 2 versions as it looks like so far. A Porting Kit Classic version which is a very small Virtual Machine with a 32-bit Linux/Porting Kit environment to play the more smaller 32 bit games. Think about titles like: Rollercoaster Tycoon, Heroes 3, Caesar 3, Pharaoh, and tons of other classics. The other Porting Kit will be 64-bit and run the 64bit games and Directx11 in combination with Vulcan (needs some more Wine love for Mac but when 64bit Mac OS will be a fact, this will ready or almost ready). More details on all of this will follow when time will pass.

Other implementations:
Other stuff which is also in the planning, and will be worked out between the projects, is Chat and Network support, so users of Porting Kit can play games with each-other using LAN/WAN support.

So again, if you have Linux programming skills and want to help out, let us know.

Updated Red Alert 2/Origin client video Tutorial!

As promised to some people having confusing how to installed Red Alert 2/Origin, here a quick updated Tutorial how to install Red Alert on your Mac. I Mention in the video this older version of Origin is temporarily and we are working on a supported updated version of Origin on the Mac. But until the updated port is finished, you guys have to do it with this more out dated version of the Origin Client.

Enjoy the video and I hope this tutorial will take away any confusion of the installation of the Origin Client in Porting Kit and the game itself.

Brother in Arms Earned in Blood and Hell’s Highway also added to Porting Kit!

A bit late, because they were already added the same week as Road to Hill 30, but Brothers in Arms – earned in Blood and Hell’s  Highway are now available in Porting Kit as well :) Brothers in Arms brings you back to WWII in a true story. Especially the Hell’s Highway episode has the best graphics and makes this game a must have for any WW2 shooter fans. The games are available on GOG.com and one of the limited games I really played from start to end. Especially for Hell’s Highway, a medium to High-end Mac is recommended. The other 2 runs very smooth on even low-end Macs :)

Get the new added games on the specific game pages here… and here… ow and while I am busy anyways, Road to Hill 30 here…
