Need for Speed Undercover (Origin) for Mac!

As promised another Origin game tonight!  This second one is “Need for Speed Undercover”! Also Need for speed Undercover was already added to paulthetall.com. The game installs fine in Origin altough you might need to restart Origin in order to launch it. In contrary of “Burnout Paradise”, login into EA games account ingame does work just fine. Lots of fun is awaiting you!

Install instructions:
Open the Portingkit and download the “Need for Speed Undercover Origin” file and let the Portingkit install Origin. The open Origin and activate the Gamersgate version serial mentioned above. After downloading the game this one stucks at installing (one of the only annoying bugs), but you can easily fix this by quitting Origin (after a few minutes to be sure), and then login again and then you are able to launch the game without problems. BUT, before you launch you have to do one more thing…Go to your preferences of Origin and turn off  “ingame Origin” and “Automatically update the game” (select-box). If you don’t do that, the game will freeze at launch. So make sure this is turned off , also when playing any other game in Origin. Then click play to start (it may ask to update, don’t do that). Have fun!

Burnout Paradise (Origin) for Mac!

A couple more Origin games will follow coming days.  The first one for tonight is “Burnout Paradise”! Burnout Pardise was already added to paulthetall.com, but installation was a headache. With this version that problem is over. The game installs fine altough you might need to restart Origin in order to launch it. Also the ingame login into EA games account takes forever, so it is offline play only I am afraid. But even then there is endless gameplay and fun waiting for you. Laughed my ass out when testing the game, so even more is whished to you ;).

Install instructions:
Open the Portingkit and download the “Burnout Paradise Origin” file and let the Portingkit install Origin. The open Origin and activate the Gamersgate version serial mentioned above. After downloading the game this one stucks at installing (one of the only annoying bugs), but you can easily fix this by quitting Origin (after a few minutes to be sure), and then login again and then you are able to launch the game without problems. Narnia – Prince Caspian for Mac!

The Pevensie children – Peter, Susan, Edmond, and Lucy — have been returned to the fantastic alternate world they’d discovered a year earlier in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, to find that well over 1,000 years have passed there! I tested the game in the Portingkit and works just fine on my Nvidia 64om iMac. The game does need a good videocard and you even then, you need to put the gfx settings lower (like turning off bloom) and shadows to have the best performance. Enjoy!

The Prince Caspian action-adventure game is based directly on Disney’s cinematic interpretation of the second novel in C.S. Lewis’ seven-volume Chronicles of Narnia. As in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe games, players can take the roles of different characters from the story. More than 20 are available, including the human Pevensies and many native Narnians. Different characters have different special abilities, and the game’s adventure puzzle challenges require players to figure out how to use the right powers in the right places to proceed. In the game’s real-time combat, characters can team up for devastating attacks.

Battlefield 2 added to Portingkit!

On request Battlefield 2 Complete (Gamersgate version) is added to the Portingkit. I checked the game and Singleplayer works like a charm in my tests (with a couple of gfx settings changes in video settings of the game which is mentioned in the game description of the game in the Portingkit). The online play option doesn’t work, but you should be still able to play multiplayer via LAN or the internet in combination with Hamachi.

Mass Effect added into Portingkit + Crosstie!

Mass Effect has 2 versions. One: The not working Origin version (because of the malfunctional Origin in Wine) and the Working Steam version for which this port is created. So make sure you have the good version when try to run it in Crossover and the Portingkit. I tested the game for a while and works quite well on my Nvidia 640M 512mb GFX  iMac.

Thrillville: Off the Rails for the Mac!

Some great news! As you may know Thrillville: Off the Rails is been re-released a little while back, and I finally got my fingers on the Gamersgate (=steam version) of the game and managed to get it working quite easily.  Thrillville: Off the Rails lives up to its name with 20 death-defying rides so outrageous, they inspire the same word from every park visitor who sees them: “WHOA!” But the new fun doesn’t stop there. Off the Rails features 34 playable multiplayer minigames, 15 all-new theme areas, over 40 thrill rides, a new story that ties together more than 100 missions, and social interaction with park guests that’s better than ever.

Technobabylon for the Mac!

The year 2087 is upon us — a future where genetic engineering is the norm, the addictive Trance has replaced almost any need for human interaction, and an omnipresent AI named Central powers the city. Its all-seeing CEL police force keeps tabs on everyone, including three people who are about to meet their maker. I tested Technobabylon and it works even on my Intel HD 5000 and played a while without any issues. Below a trailer with some visuals of the game.

Simply download the Portingkit (if you don’t have it already) and go to the library –> server tab and select the “Technobabylon” and click download. If you don’t own the game yet the Portingkit can direct you to the game page where to purchase it and download the setup/download file into your download folder. When you clicked “no” and were directed to the game page, you have to click “download” again and then click “yes” so the Portingkit will install the game for you. After installation the Portingkit will say the installation was done successfully. Then go to your “local” tab where you can select the game and click “play”!

Ultimate General: Gettysburg for the Mac!

Ultimate General: Gettysburg is a Tactical Battle Simulator that allows you to lead thousands of soldiers in the famous Battle of Gettysburg as commander of either the Union or Confederate army.  The game features the most accurately created map, complex morale, innovative control mechanics and smart AI. You have the freedom to use different strategies while the battle progresses. Your decisions and military performance play a crucial role in the result. Lead your army and win the Battle of Gettysburg!

Simple and great. Ultimate General Gettysburg succeeds in what others (PC-) wargames often fail greatly : Being fairly easy to grasp but on the other hand accurately simulating the matter. Due to the impressive and scalable AI and you have a game that is playable by beginners and old grognards as well. The graphics are a mix of a fairly beautiful 2d map plus sprites for the soldiers. Don’t let this description fool you : The game looks gorgeous and I never missed the fancy Total War graphics. UG: Gettysburg doesn’t offer a strategic campaign like TW though, but slices the three Days of Gettysburg in several scenarios.

Not a Hero for the Mac!

Finally another game port :) after a busy period in my private life here another game port of one of the latest indie games.

Professional assassin turned amateur campaign manager Steve is charged with cleaning up the city by an anthropomorphic rabbit and mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord. Now Steve and his expanding roster of dubious heroes must wield their unique skills to shoot, slide, dive, and take cover behind a political platform built on ethics, accountability, and an inordinate amount of gunfire. I tested Not a Hero and works even on my Intel HD 5000 and played 2 levels without any issues. Below some visuals of the game.

Simply download the Portingkit (if you don’t have it already) and go to the library –> server tab and select the “Not a Hero” and click download. If you don’t own the game yet the Portingkit can direct you to the game page where to purchase it and download the setup/download file into your download folder.
