Portingkit Frequently asked Questions…

Yes! The Portingkit BETA is a fact now. But what are the plans? What to expect? How fast will the adding of the games go? Well this post will answer some of the questions:

Cool! Portinkit is a fact. What will happen to the game pages and the existing wrappers?
Well, the specific game pages and game posts of the games added to the Portingkit will stay the same, only the link to the Wrapper will change to the website. The wrappers of the games which are added to the Portingkit, will be put offline because there is no need for it anymore because the free Portingkit will create it for you automatically.

I don’t have the or Gamersgate version of the game will the Portingkit still work.
Of course will it still work, the Portingkit will popup with a window to choose the setup file manually. however, the Gamersgate/ games proposed are tested, auto-detected and advised to use. other versions may contain copy protection or download clients not tested and may in that case fail to work.

I cant see the videos on the “News” Tab ( website) it says blocked content.
Update to the latest Flashplayer and restart Portingkit and it will be fixed.

I can’t still “Rank” any games in the Portingkit.
Correct, this functionality will be added soon.

How fast will filling the database go? And what about the Steam games?
Well, I will try to do at least 5 a day. I may get some help from some other people as well. About the Steam game Wrappers. Yes they will be added as well on short term. in the end all the game ports on will be added into the Portingkit.

Will there come more video tutorials?
Of course, all on short term.

Civilization 2 for Mac!

To make the total series of Civilization for Mac complete: here Civilization 2 for Mac!! As you know Civilization and Civilization 3, Civilization IV and Civilization V were already available for Mac, but today I make the Wrapper for Civilization II available. Check out also one of the other over thousands game ports on

Game Description:
Sid Meier’s Civilization II is a turn-based strategy video game developed and published by MicroProse. Civilization II is similar to the first Civilization, with some changes to the various units, civilizations, world wonders, tile “specials” and technologies. The graphics were changed from a top-down view to an isometric representation. Rivers no longer occupy the whole of each tile along their length; instead, they are part of each topography square through which they flow, adding productive value, defensive bonuses and movement ability. The AI was improved as well, including the elimination of most random events by now making the computer player go through the same production requirements as the human player. Enjoy this amazing game on your Mac!

Installation is quite simple:
1. Go to the Civilization 2 Mac page…
2. Download Porting Kit and open it.
3. Click install on the Civilization 2 Mac page and let Porting Kit install the game.
4. Click “Play” in Porting Kit.

Have fun!

Bully – Scholarship Edition for Mac!

On request: Bully: Scholarship Edition! I tested the Gamersgate edition (now a Steam serial), in the Steambuild1 Wrapper and works fine. I played the game about 2 hours without any issues. Make sure you in the ingame options increase the mouse sensitivity to “2.0” or higher for proper mouse movement for camera view. A good video-card is recommend though. I played the game in the highest resolution (1600×900) without issues on my Nvidia 640M iMac with 512MB. Enjoy!

Note: The game won’t work on most Intel graphic cards (Like Intel Graphics HD 4000/5000), but seems to work on Intel Iris. It might be that the Mac driver needs to be turned off for the Intel Iris gfx cards doing: right-click wrapper –> show package content –> wineskin –> screen settings and deselect the mac driver. Game works great on Nvidia Mac’s (512mb advised).

Install Instructions:
Download the Portingkit using the link below and extract it –> then double-click the Portingkit and go to the server library tab –> search for Bully Scholarship and download the WSI file which will create a Wrapper including Steam. Then when creation is finished, go to the local library tab and launch Bully and login into the Windows steam and activate the Bully: Scholarship Edition (if you don’t own it yet) serial and download and play!

Download the Portingkit up here…
