Patrician 2 for the Mac!

Patrician 3 was already ported for a long while! Now the predesessor Patrician 2 Quest for Power is ported as well. The package is still available on GOG.com and includes: Patrician 1 as well, but that one isn’t working properly yet, so for that one we have to wait out some more Wine development. This Strategy game is really cool for the ones who love trade simulators! Some nice features are: A realistic simulation of a complex world comprised of production, transport, trade and consumption, detailed and historically accurate graphics and a mix of genres including trade, economics, sea battles and diplomacy. The game works great using Crossover!

Predecessor to Patrician 3, in the price of just one! Set against the historical backdrop of maritime trade at the time of the Hanseatic League, the Patrician series sees the player take the role of a citizen of a medieval hanseatic town in Northern Europe, between London and Novgorod, with the aim being to rise from the status of an ordinary, unimportant trader to that of a major business tycoon and governor of your hometown. To achieve this goal, the player must gain the respect and recognition of other inhabitants and try to make a profit through maritime trade, the production of goods and the completion of missions. The player can raise his profile by both improving the city and through diplomacy, or by raising money for his treasury by means of piracy and smuggling – but watch out, others want easy money too, so you would do wise to arm your ships!

I ported aready: Heroes of Might and Magic 3Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and Heroes of Might and Magic 5. Because this game (although old) is still very popular, I decided to port this one as well. This game is available on GOG.com and works great using Crossover!

Lord Ironfist is dead and the Kingdom is plunged into a vicious civil war by his feuding sons. At stake is the ultimate prize: control of the land and succession of the royal throne. Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion for the Mac!

Guess what? Yes, here is; Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, that’s the successor of  Sins of a Solar Empire which I posted a few moments ago. Yup there are some nice games in the pipeline. While I am testing and creating CrossTies of existing game ports, I am testing some new games as well which of course results in some new port  as well :) Watch the original video trailer below to get an impression of the game-play! Enjoy!

While many were hopeful that diplomacy would finally end the war, differing opinions on what should be done, along with the depleted power of the controlling factions, has led to a splintering of the groups involved. The loyalist members of the Trader Emergency Coalition adopt a policy of isolation, focusing on enhanced defenses to ride out the rest of the war. Those who rebel against the coalition take on a purely militant view, coming to the opinion that the only way to bring peace is by ultimately crushing all who oppose them – especially xenos.

Space strategy is the focus for today!  We start with Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity . This game is available on Gamersgate and this new bundle pack includes the original Sins of a Solar Empire, plus the Entrenchment and Diplomacy expansions. The game works nicely using Crossover in my tests. If you don’t know the game then the trailer below will introduce you with it.

Sins of a Solar Empire is an innovative real-time strategy game featuring seamless transition between epic strategy and tactical combat modes, initiating what is already becoming known as the RT4X sub-genre. M.A.X. for the Mac!

More golden oldies! This Weekend I ran unto some GOG.com games I owned, so here is another one:  M.A.X.. Your mission: colonize new worlds on distant planets. As the Mission Commander, you and the Mechanized Assault & Exploration (M.A.X.) force under your command are the first ones in. Mining stations, power plants, tactical combat vehicle factories, habitats – it’s up to you to plan and construct them.  This game is still available on GOG.com and works great using Crossover! The bundle comes with M.A.X. and  M.A.X. 2, unfortunatly M.A.X. 2 isn’t working at the moment. Use the Crosstie on the gamepage to let it automaticly install the game into crossover. Watch the video below to catch up good old times! Enjoy!

At its core, M.A.X. is about resource-gathering, building, and tactical combat. The game offers more than 50 land, sea, and air units, most of which can be upgraded to improve their armor, speed, and range. You can play as one of eight different factions with different advantages for each one. Discover new scenarios, units and more with the sequel – M.A.X. 2. Now both games bundled together!

Domination (Risk Board Game) for Mac!

Two or maybe more things for today! Lets start with this free game Domination. Domination is a free java based “Risk” board game. It is normally also available for Mac, but I couldn’t get it working easily because all the actions you have to do on the Mac. When using the the CrossTie in Crossover, it will auto install and create a shortcut. in the menu, so that is much easier. So thats why I thought let’s make a CrossTie for that game as well. Its free, so why not ;). Enjoy!

Domination is a game that is a bit like the well known board game of Risk or RisiKo. It has many game options and includes many maps. Written in java it includes a map editor, a simple map format, multiplayer network play, single player, hotseat, 5 user interfaces and many more features.

Dungeon Keeper 2 for the Mac!

Everyone can say much about older games, but I have to say newer games aren’t always better. I can say even better, there are older games which cannot be beaten by any new games yet. For example, yesterday I spent most of my evening (which was not meaned to :P)  with an golden oldie “Civilization“. Loved that game in the past and I have to watch out that it consumes much time from me :P

Today another very popular golden oldie called: Dungeon Keeper 2. This game (although not my personal taste of games) is the predecessor of Dungeon Keep (Gold), which is now released for the Mac on GOG.com, and where you have to play a dungeon keeper where you have to manage way through all the levels. Check out the gameplay below.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is everything its predecessor was, only better and badder! It is probably one of the most addictive and fun games ever created; with tons of dark humor, smooth gameplay, and high replayability value. In addition to that there is a well designed multiplayer mode and a pet-dungeon module that tests your ability to build the ultimate underground labyrinth filled with traps, wierdos, and other bad looking devices. If you liked Dungeon Keeper you will love this ultimate installment of the Bullfrog series.
