Age of Empires 3 Wrapper update!

Here a quick heads-up. With Steam dropping support for WinXP and Porting Kit auto-updating the steam ports, the game didn’t work properly anymore in the Windows 7 Environment port. So I fixed that for Age of Empires 3. So everyone experiencing the issue, trash the old wrapper and reinstall the new one and start the fun! I also checked Age of Empires 2 HD and that one seems still to run fine. Besides that the launcher has some more colors then before :P, it launches fine for me after a clean install.

Get the Age of Empires 3 port up here… or find it on the server tab on Porting Kit.

Lots of wrapper updates!

Lots of wrapper updates!

There have been lots of game updates on GOG.com lately which in some cases also involves of updated installer files. This may cause some unexpected porting kit messages in the install process which you not may expect normally that it asks to choose your own setup file. So those changes are covered, but hinders the automatic process that Porting Kit automatically opens the setup file for you. So for some of those cases I made an update of these games so Porting Kit will automatically recognize the offline backup setup installer files again. Because of this, I could also look into the ports itself to see if newer engines improve the performances or bug fixes. Below the results.

Enjoy the updates of the game! If you run into installation problems with any game, let us know using the contact form! Then we can fix it. We need you guys for this :) Thanks!

Call of Juarez GOG.com version added to Porting Kit!

Call of Juarez GOG.com version added to Porting Kit!

Yes, I know, its awesome! Call of Juarez has been added to the GOG.com catalog! The game was already badly available, but now it’s added to the where it belongs: GOG.com and with a very nice low price of 7,50 and with the now 50% discount a must have item in your game collection! I ported the game in the past, so I added the GOG.com version last night straight away! Played it for a few chapters on my 2GB Videocard AMD Radeon iMac and works flawless. Unfortunatly It only runs on Nvidia and ATI/AMD Radeon gfx cards. So Intel Iris and Intel HD, cannot play it (graphical glitches) at the moment. So do you own a Nvidia or ATI/AMD Radeon equiped Mac, then this one you can’t miss! Also very fun in multiplayer using LAN or with special tools as Hamachi or the free zerotier. Grab it on GOG up here… and download the 2 “offline backup setup files” into your download folder and in Porting Kit click on the install button to get the installation rolling! Enjoy!

You don’t know this western game?
Reverend Ray is a violent and merciless killer. His quarry is the lone fugitive, Billy Candle, a savage accused of murder. With Bible in one hand and revolver in the other, the Reverend is unwavering in his hunt for brutal justice. Only wit and guile will keep young Billy ahead of the chase.  Intense, gritty and unforgiving, Call of Juarez paves a trail through bloodshed, leaving death and smoking guns in its wake.

Wrapper updates!

Wrapper updates!

Things change all the time and we try to keep up with all the changes. Sometimes things change while we not know of it, and then your help and informing us is important. So that’s why I could fix a few things. For example I updated Port Royale 2 and Arcanum. below the changes:

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura:
There seems to be an massive update of Arcanum, so I updated the Wrapper and works great now :)

 Port Royal 2
The setup file of Port Royale 2 has been changed by GOG.com so it causes porting Kit to ask for a location of the exe file. I changed the setup file and now Porting Kit will detect the setup file automatically so the GOG.com offline backup installer will automatically start.

Check those updated games out in Porting Kit! Enjoy!

Some more Wrapper updates

Some more Wrapper updates

It’s very busy lately, But I manage some maintenance on a few ports after getting a few e-mails about them. As you know we always try our best in our spare-time to improve porting Kit and the ports of course, which is a continuous progress.

Starting with Zork Grand Inquisitor. That game seemed to be changed from DOS version to SCUMVM version in the GOG.com catalog. So this meaned for me to change the installer file and startup flags for the SCUMVM version. Working lovely now.

Then we have Giants – Citizen Kabuto, which had an issue because GOG change the setup file name, so I changed that for the game, this also counted for Mount and Blade – Fire and Sword. So fixed that issue as well.

Enjoy the games!

Game port updates!

Game port updates!

As I already mentioned in the past. If there a re no new games added for a week, it doesn’t mean we stand still. There is always lots of things going on and fixes are implanted. Past weeks I did some important updates and fixes here mentioned below:

  • Guild 2 –> Fixed GOG installer screen (couldn’t see the “install” button).
  • Torins Passage –> Updated to the latest ScummVM version of GOG.com instead of DOSbox.
  • Kings of Dragon’s pass –> Fixed “Installer failed” problem because of  updated GOG setup file and new path.
  • Red Alert –> fixed .net 2.0 getting stuck issue some people had.
  • Star Wars Dark Forces 2 –> fixed expansion game Mysteries of the Sith (black screen)

If you had trouble with one of the games in the past, then reinstall the game and start the fun! Or if you want to check them out as well, then they are waiting for you!

Red Alert and Red Alert 2 Wrapper update!

Red Alert and Red Alert 2 Wrapper update!

Update 6-June-2018:
We fixed an Engine extract failure which some people experienced. That should work properly now with latest update yesterday. So if you experienced the issue. Try again and it should work fine now.

====

I have done lots of stuff for Porting Kit this weekend. Lets start with Red Alert and Red Alert 2 :)

Red Alert:
Red Alert was working quite well already but had after longer game-play a habit to crash or loose the mouse capture in especially multiplayer or skirmish games. That problem is addressed in the latest Wrapper update of Red Alert and works stable as never before! If you have Red Alert installed then it is is required to trash the wrapper in Porting Kit on your local tab, and reinstall it on your server tab.

Red Alert 2:
Red Alert 2 has a long history as well with all kind of changes from stability also due to Origin’s updates. You may have read the news I fixed the Origin Client issue earlier last week. Now this past weekend I took the time to test the latest Winestaging engine and it seems to run remarkably good. I earlier used a specific mod and extra files to get some better performance, but still it would crash regularly. I tested with the latest Wrapper update and I played 1.5 hours in a row without a single crash. It even doesn’t require any manual actions (adding files or using mods). So finnally we have a stable build of this game. Eager to check it out? Get the C&C Ultimate collection cheap here… and start play this game again!

Origin Wrappers “online login not available” fixed!

Origin Wrappers "online login not available" fixed!

Due to an Origin update, people got the message: “online login not available” when people launched Origin to play their games. This issue has been addressed now and all Origin wrappers in Porting Kit are updated with the fix. This does mean that you have to reinstall the game with the new wrapper, or if to many things or on stake, you can do an manual action to fix it:

Manual fix (if you don’t want to reinstall):
Download the latest setup file from Origin (windows exe) and place that in the c: of the game folder (click more —> open c:) and then place the file in the c:\. Then go to more —> wineskin tools —> open wineskin —> advanced —> browse —> navigate to the setup file and click “choose”. This will make Porting Kit start the origin.exe in good way without issues about offline.

Have fun with the Origin games!
