Civcity Rome for Mac OSX

Game Details:

Welcome to the “Civcity Rome” for Mac game page. This page contains information + tools how to port this game so you can play it on your Mac just like a normal application. This game is already available in the Porting Kit. Porting Kit is the new application which “ports” the game to your Mac. Install the game with the Porting Kit visit its page here. Or use the crosstie with the Crossover application.

Basic Portingkit Install Instructions GOG games:
1. Download the Civcity Rome “offline backup setup” file(s) into your download folder.
2. Always read the “notes” of the game description first for additional steps!
3. Go to the library server tab and select the game you want to install and click “Install”
4. Portingkit will create the wrapper and locate your setup file in your download folder
5. The installation of the game will start, run through the install wizard.
6. After installation, exit the installer (don’t run launch the game).
7. Porting kit will say it has finished successfully.
8. Go to your local library tab and select the game and click “play”!
9. Enjoy the game!

Alternatively there is also Parallels Desktop (a very easy to use Virtual Machine with Windows 11 (free trial of 14 days)) where the game will work fine as well. More info about that up here: https://www.paulthetall.com/parallels-desktop/

CivCity: Rome, an incredibly detailed and in-depth city builder inspired by the world of Sid Meier’s Civilization. It is a collaboration between Firefly Studios and Firaxis Games, and invites players to shift focus from building a multi-city empire and zoom-in on the great cities of the Roman Empire, culminating in Rome itself! Players will be charged with building, nurturing and managing one of these great cities as they endeavour to lead the Roman Empire from its humble beginnings to its mighty zenith. CivCity: Rome will contains many of the features gamers will have enjoyed from the Civilization series, including research, wonders, production and culture, as well as a whole new way to enjoy the Civilization experience.

Graphical Cards Tested: NVIDIA 9400M graphics card, AMD Radeon 6770M
Whats tested: Playing all campaigns from begin to end
Does Multiplayer work?: Not tested
Known Issues: The first run of the game will probably crash and you need to reboot you system once to set the “open files value” higher. Its the same issue as Strongholds 2, and yeah its also the same developer which caused this unhandy issue.
Whats not tested: Intel graphical cards
