Crossover 21.1.0 Released!
A bit late, because it was released already on Monday, but here the news after all: Crossover 21.1.0 has hit the streets! And with it some very good news. It has a lot of fixes for games: Like Dragon Age Origin, Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 + 2 (for M1 Apple Silicon), SimCity 4 and much more and also much better support for M1 Apple Silicon. See the changelog below:
Our big reveal for this release is much-awaited support for Grand Theft Auto V (including GTA Online) on both macOS and Linux. Starting with CrossOver 21.1, you can now run Grand Theft Auto V via either the standalone Rockstar Games Launcher or Steam.
This release is also the first to offer official support for the newly released macOS Monterey. We also added support for several games that previously did not run on macOS and fixed an issue for certain launchers that were not working on macOS with CrossOver 21 (including MicroTik The Dude)
CrossOver 21.1 includes several other fixes, including ones for the recent updates to Ubisoft Connect and Quicken that caused problems running them in CrossOver. Additionally, this release includes improvements to wined3d and an update to Wine Mono 6.3.
We hoping to get the CX21.1.0 engine to Porting Kit soon as well, but this might take another week. If you can’t wait and you don’t have Crossover 21 yet, then get Crossover now up here..! And use the “Bridgeover25” discount code of 25% off!
Is there a possibility we can use Steam with his update?
Great news!!!!! I’ll recently buyed a M1 Mac and this post makes my day :)
Dragon Age crashes with Monterey. I cry. You get every single sentence three times in a row and lag to go with it. I’ve tried several settings in options but it doesn’t work
This release talks about the crossover program itself. The engine CX21.1.0 will follow soon on Porting Kit
@anonymous: Steam already works, it takes only a bit of time (few minutes) sometimes before it logs in. With the new engine coming soon will improve login.
@Marianne: The new engine follows soon, when it is replaced the game will work. It still has a sound (distort bug) which still needs to be fixed, but the game itself will work. Keep an eye on the blog for updates.
I’m using porting kit on my new MacBook Air with M1. As it’s a new Mac it runs on Monterey. I tried to play in Fallout: New Vegas and run into some problems. The main issue is with the audio – the sound lags a lot. And it also takes some time to load the saved game or a new location. The VATS doesn’t seem to work. The character just stands still without hitting the targets. At least there is no animation of hits. I saw in some earlier posts that the game should work very well on new Macs but it doesn’t in my case.
Are these issues caused by Monterey? And is there any hope they will be resolved once Porting Kit adopts this new version of the engine?
I used to play in this game on my old Mac with Intel CPU and the game worked perfectly (considering that my laptop was almost 9 years old). Thank you for your work!
