Fallout and Fallout 2 are back working again for Apple Silicon Macs on Mac OS 14 Sonoma.
A miracle has happened with the coming of Mac OS 14 Sonoma. It appears that it fixed Fallout and Fallout 2 with it’s release for Apple Silicon Macs (not for Intel based Macs unfortunately). So, Apple Silicon users can install this game again in Porting Kit, and enjoy it as in the old times on Mac OS Sonoma. So for the Apple Silicon users who haven’t updated yet to Sonoma, this is really advised to do so, also for some awesome upcoming game releases, Mac OS 14 Sonoma will be mandatory to be able to play these games.
To play these 2 games, get Porting Kit and get Fallout and/or Fallout 2 on GOG.com (if you don’t own them already). Download the “Offline backup/setup files” from your GOG game library (Porting Kit 5, In Porting Kit 6 this will be automatically done). Search the game in the porting Kit database and install and play!
The game has been tested on my Apple Silicon Mac and besides the “choppy” videos, the game-play itself works great! When you installed the game, make sure you run the config first, to change resolution to 1280×800 for widescreen support. Have fun again with this classic!
