Fixed ports after massive Steam games engine update project.

As mentioned in a previous post regarding Steam games. I had to do a massive project updating all steam ports in Porting Kit. Most games were massively outdated and dozens weren’t even running anymore because of the many changes Steam updates and Mac OS updates brought through time. However! New engines brings improvements and in some cases regressions. This means that now these Steam ports all have new engines, that there might be some regressions in some of these Steam ports. When you find any regressions in Steam Ports, let me know asap, so I can look into it.

I received some e-mails already regarding some regressions, and fixed them. Below a list of regression fixes of updated Steam ports. If you experienced them as well when you installed these the past days, then delete the old port and reinstall them to enjoy the fix. When you have Mac OS Ventura, make sure you are updated to version 13.4!

Fixed games from reported regressions so far:
Elder Scrolls Skyrim – Special Edition (Fixed launch issue)
– Bully (Fixed sound distortion)
– Stalker Anomaly (GFX and launch issues) (non Steam)

  1. Dear Paul,
Thank you for your efforts which you bring into PortingKit and supporting the macOS community.

Personally, I upgraded the AOE2DE port to the latest version and noted a drop in benchmarking performance under the same game settings from 1150 points to 950 points.
The game executes well under macOS 13.4.

    Cheers, M.

  2. For GTA IV thru Steam, I have been unable to get past a black screen that flashes and disappears when I start the game. I have tried the launch options “-nomemrestrict -norestrictions -maxvidmem 12288 -availablevidmem 10240” (even though I have 16GB VRAM) but nothing changes. Help!

  3. Nice work! On my mac mini M1, GTA IV doesn’t work. It load and, after a short black screen, the game shut down… Help !
