Origin Client reached its end….
Yeah..we tried our best to extend the life a bit by turning off the automatic update in the Origin Client, but this worked until now. EA has now forced everyone to switch to the EA Client app, which is unfortunately not working yet in the CX22 engine… This is also not easily fixable with a single “patch” or something. This means that for now all Origin games in Porting Kit are from today temporarily unavailable (Maintenance mode) until….yes, CX23 comes out.
Because I do have “some” good news! I tested the EA Client app in the nightly build of Crossover, and the app itself seems to work in there, but games do not launch “yet”. They have most likely a couple of months to fix that (Most likely the release will somewhere in August judging the last 2 major releases past years). So I am afraid you need to be patient for a couple of months regarding playing EA Client games…
Some good news though…I managed to fix Red Alert 3 and Command & Conquer 3 in Steam (old “Steam version” not EA client version within Steam). So these two will still be available when you own these games.
