Origin game client is back!

Wohooo! Thanks to Gcenx, I have reinstated all (except 2 (Red Alert 3 and C&C 3 which had issues previous already) Origin games in Porting Kit! Yes! That means, playing back a bunch of the C&C series like: Red Alert 2, C&C Generals, C&C Renegade. But also games like: Battlefield 1942, FIFA 13, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Undercover and more!

This means that the “maintenance mode” for all these games are removed, and the Origin sources can be installed again as any other port in the database. I have done some testing and Red Alert 2 is working awesome, even on my Apple Silicon Macbook Pro!

  1. Hey!
I’ve just tried to install Red Alert 2 using Origin, and looks like something is still not ok (or it’s a problem with my M1).
The origin clients starts up, but appears as a black box – preventing to log in to Origin.
    Any clues?
    Thx!

  2. When i open origin it tells me i’m using a 32 bit windows client and that is no longer supported (64 bit needed). This is on mac. Any way to solve this please?

    Thanks

  3. Retry please all! There is also few other issues which should be fixed in the new update will follow most likely tonight or tomorrow..

  4. Please check Red Alert 2 or Origin Client (32bit) and check if it works.

  5. On my Apple MacBook Pro M1 (running Ventura 13.3.1), after clicking play in my games in the Porting Kit library, nothing happens. The Origin Windows box does not appear. Any ideas?

  6. It installs now, but is not running for me :( nothing happens when you press play (playing on an m1 mac).

I ran in debug, got this error message:

  7. Origin games should work now for everyone with latest Engines assigned to them.

  8. After having trouble for a while, here’s how I got C&C Generals + Zero Hour porting to work again on my MacBook Pro M1 running Ventura.
I removed the C&C Generals + Zero Hour game from my Porting Kit Library (removed from list, but not from disk).
I searched the game library for C&C Generals + Zero Hour (updated version) and I clicked to Install.
Installation was completed without any errors.
I then proceeded to Play, and for the first time in a long time, I saw the Origin Windows dialog box appear. I logged into my account and once C&C Generals + Zero Hour appeared, I selected Play.
The game booted up, I selected Generals, but then I got the DirectX error.
To solve that, I edited the Resolution within the options.ini file. I put the native resolution of my MacBook Pro (2560 x 1600).
I closed the options.ini file, hit Play again in Origin Windows dialog box, selected Generals, and this time the game loaded until the opening video and I was allowed to play.
Hope this is helpful to a few of you.

  9. Hi Alex!
It’s mentioned now in the game description of the port. Thanks for the heads up.
