Porting Kit 6 Beta release!!
Yes! You may know about the fact we are working on Porting Kit 6! This new Porting Kit has a total overhaul in GUI with as awesome feature GOG Account integration! This will make life much easier in installing GOG games. No more need for downloading “Offline backup setup files” anymore, but will be automatically downloaded and installed by Porting Kit.
Also what is new are the Banners! Sweet cool banners which are awesome! Still liked the Icons? Then no worries you can switch back to the old icons view at any time in the Preferences. In the games overview the sorting overview is there to choose how to sort from “Name”, “Popularity” or “Latest”!
Besides Banners the overview GUI is also different. Apps and games have separate sections and also the “games” have even 4 sections for the Sources GOG/Ubisoft Connect/EA Origin and Steam games. Also the Tabs (News/FAQ/Settings/Community) in PK 5 are moved to the left side.
The GOG Account tab! Yes, thats a special one. Find all your GOG games of your account in this tab and when the game is in the Porting Kit database, then it will show as a colored banner. In that case you will be able to install it without needing to download offline backup setup files (when logged in into GOG account integration). The other greyed out banners (or question marks=when automatically there is no banner found) can also be installed, but is unsupported because it’s not tested yet by our team. When it works out of the box, let us know so we can add the game as a community port.
Feel free to try the new Porting Kit 6 Beta! As the word “Beta” says, its not completely bug free, but close for final release. Let us know what you think and also report bugs using the contact form so we can look at it. To activate Porting Kit 6, go to the Porting Kit preferences and select the “Experimental features” option to activate it. Then restart Porting Kit and when asked to restart porting Kit, do as mentioned and with 15 seconds before launching porting Kit again (so update can be done properly in background). After restarting the app few times, you will see the new GUI. Enjoy!

Hey, the GOG integration feature sounds awesome. Will it be possible to automatically update the game via GOG integration? Or do I need to download the latest patches for the game manually and install them within porting kit?

That’s something we can implement later perhaps, issue with updates, is that it may break games as well. So it has some risks. We come back on that later. First things first, a good working Porting Kit 6. Steam Integration has been added as well now partly. But as said, still lots on todo list!
