Yes! The Portingkit BETA is a fact now. But what are the plans? What to expect? How fast will the adding of the games go? Well this post will answer some of the questions:
Cool! Portinkit is a fact. What will happen to the game pages and the existing wrappers?
Well, the specific game pages and game posts of the games added to the Portingkit will stay the same, only the link to the Wrapper will change to the portingkit.com website. The wrappers of the games which are added to the Portingkit, will be put offline because there is no need for it anymore because the free Portingkit will create it for you automatically.
I don’t have the GOG.com or Gamersgate version of the game will the Portingkit still work.
Of course will it still work, the Portingkit will popup with a window to choose the setup file manually. however, the Gamersgate/GOG.com games proposed are tested, auto-detected and advised to use. other versions may contain copy protection or download clients not tested and may in that case fail to work.
I cant see the videos on the “News” Tab (paulthetall.com website) it says blocked content.
Update to the latest Flashplayer and restart Portingkit and it will be fixed.
I can’t still “Rank” any games in the Portingkit.
Correct, this functionality will be added soon.
How fast will filling the database go? And what about the Steam games?
Well, I will try to do at least 5 a day. I may get some help from some other people as well. About the Steam game Wrappers. Yes they will be added as well on short term. in the end all the game ports on paulthetall.com will be added into the Portingkit.
Will there come more video tutorials?
Of course, all on short term.

If not a Manual Location setting option for the games would be nice.

Most of the games I have on an External HD, does Porting Kit show them also up on the Local list?
Not at the moment, but a manual addition will be inserted in future releases, just like the possibility of changing the main installing directory, which may suits you the most.
The Free Games on the Server List like “Sudden Strike 2” should be tagged as free for a better overview.
It is a possibility. We will discuss about that.
